  Joseph Machold studied at the Vienna Academy under the famous romantic painter Schnorr von Carolsfeld. In 1852 he became professor at the Vienna Academy.
  This work is one of six paintings called "Singen und Gesang" (Singing and Song) and is described in the "F.V. Boettiger Malerwerke des neunzehnten Jahrhunderts" vol. 1, p. 950, no. 3.
  The piece is matted and unframed.

Condition: Image good; minor fox stains on the margins.
