  [3]ff; [2]ff; [58]ff, engraved folio, printed on one side of the leaf only. 18th Century half roan, red and gold Dutch floral paper wrappers. With a very nice engraved frontispiece.
  Hunter 49, the third state of the opera, advertised in the Daily Courant, 9th February 1709, but the first with the additional Italian text. The earlier states were advertised in late January of 1709, and the Cullen edition, given priority by CPM, is the second edition, published in June 1709.
  RISM S 1176; Smith 293; Hirsch II 841. Only one copy in continental Europe.
The music to Pyrrhus and Demetrius is from Scarlatti's 1694 opera Rosuara, arranged by Nicholas Haym with additions. It was premiered in London on 14th December 1708, with the great castrato Niccolini singing the part of Pyrrhus. It was the only Scarlatti opera to be performed in London during his lifetime.

Dimensions: 22.5x33.7cm
Condition: A little worming to last two leaves, just touching text, but without loss. Otherwise a very nice copy.
