Yamaha Motif ES Synthesizers Win Awards

On March 19, the winners of the PPV Medien Readers Poll Award 2006 were announced at the Frankfurt Musikmesse 2006, a world famous trade fair for musical products. The awards are given jointly by four German music magazines – SOUNDCHECK, KEYS, Tastenwelt and DrumHeads – to the previous year’s best musical products, based on readers’ votes.

The Yamaha Motif ES synthesizers received the SOUNDCHECK Magazine Award as best keyboard instrument of the year. Yamaha is extremely proud that its products scored so highly to merit these awards.

Yamaha YDP223 Digital Piano

There are many useful features built into the Yamaha YDP223 that apply to musicians at any level of playing ability. In fact, the YDP223 is the digital piano of choice for home hobbyists, professionals, music students and Yamaha YDP223music institutions. For example, the keyboard has MIDI In/Out/Thru plus a To Host jack, which are necessary for connecting to computers. Anything you play on the digital piano can be captured into a music program in your computer and turned into music notation. If you wish, you can send the file to your friends and family or just archive it like you would a photograph.

The YDP223 digital piano combines great sound and features in an attractive cabinet that will add a touch of elegance to any home or church. It features an 88 Key Graded Hammer Action keyboard. Graded Hammer Action emulates the action of a grand piano – heavier in the bass and lighter in the treble areas of the keyboard (on a grand piano, the hammers get thicker as you move from treble to bass).

The YDP223 comes with 14 different voices for you to choose from. These include 2 Grand Pianos, 2 Electric Pianos, 2 Church Organs, 2 Harpsichords, Vibraphone, 2 Strings, Jazz Organ, Choir and Guitar. And you can combine two sounds at once, like Piano and Strings. For your learning and listening pleasure, you’ll find 50 built-in songs with Songbook. And finally, there is a matching padded bench.

BOSS BR900CD Digital Recorder

The BOSS BR900CD is the musician’s portable dream studio. Its road tough, fun to use, and it performs far beyond its weight class. This reliable all-in-one digital recorder stands out with its professional effects, realistic drum-pattern generator, vocal-correctionBOSS_BR900CD-2.jpg and Mastering Tool Kit, digital output, and internal CD burner. With the same reliable and ultra-friendly operation as BOSS’s highly popular BR-864, the BR900CD takes three big steps forward by increasing the front-panel fader count from four to eight, and adding a built-in CD-RW drive and Pitch Correction to the feature set. The BR-900CD is compatible with Compact Flash cards up to 1GB capacity, which provides up to 624 minutes of record time (standard mode) in one shot. Even with all of this great new feature, the unit’s footprint remains small for ease of travel.

No more trying to read music on a chair, bed, kitchen table, or who knows where! A music stand is a must have accessory for every musician. It makes a great add-on accessory with an instrument purchase, or a great gift idea for any player. The musician who receives it will most certainly be grateful.

Portable Sound System

You shouldn’t judge the new generation of portable sound systems by their size, because they deliver much more sound than some larger sound systems. Has the perfect portable PA system been invented? Probably not, but the PA systems we offer can go a long way in reaching that goal. The Yamaha StagePas 300 is a good example.

Yamaha_StagePass-2.jpgThe Yamaha StagePass 300 portable sound system is exceptionally compact and portable. It’s the perfect road companion, providing powerful, reliable, convenient sound reinforcement for a wide variety of applications. Great sound has never been so portable and easy to use.

Bob Kovacs, of Pro Audio Review, in a review of the StagePas 300 said, “I’ve tried a few and even pieced together systems on my own, but there is always something lacking. However, the Yamaha STAGEPAS 300 is nearly perfect for this application, so close that I could probably live with its few limitations.” How’s that for praise?

“The Yamaha STAGEPAS 300 is a cool system. It’s solid enough to withstand a lot of abuse, powerful enough to fill the typical bar or small church, simple enough to use with two-minutes’ practice and flexible enough to handle both speech and performance applications”, continues Kovacs.

The Peavey Messenger is another innovation in the area of portable PA systems. It is a complete portable sound system mess.jpgdesigned with the compact size and carry-on convenience of a briefcase. At 24″ wide, the Messenger is portable enough for business travelers, and is completely self contained and sets up in seconds.

Peavey designed the Messenger with a unique Split-Track Mix section so you can line-in AV accompaniment for any application. With its independent master volume, this feature is especially useful for inserting pre-recorded music from a laptop, CD player, or a portable MP3 player. It will enhance both office-type applications and solo music performances. The Peavey Messenger is a portable sound system in the truest since of the word – small, light and functional.

There are at least two other portable sound systems to consider, the Peavey Escort and the Peavey Solo. We’ll take a look at those in a future article. For more information on Portable PA products, please visit www.AndysMusicOnline.com.
