Andy’s Music Chosen Top 100 Dealer

Andy's Music Chosen NAMM Top 100 Dealer

Nashville, TN. July 13, 2012 —The National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) announced today that Andy’s Music has been selected as a Top 100 Dealer. The award was presented to the top music merchants from across the country at the organization’s annual summer music product trade show, Summer NAMM, held in Nashville, Tenn.

NAMM President and CEO Joe Lamond told James Andrews of Andy’s Music, “NAMM has over 4,000 music dealer members, and you should be very proud to be in the Top 100 dealers in America.” The Top 100 Dealer Award has been presented consecutively since 2011, and Andy’s has been selected both years.

Brother and sister, James Andrews and Linsey Andrews Abraham, are fourth generation entrepreneurs. Their great-grandfather Christos Andrews, who emigrated from Smyrna, Greece (now Izmir, Turkey) in the early 1900s, had a general store and tavern on Bloodgood Street in Mobile, and their grandfather Jimmy had a restaurant, Andy’s Grill on Broad Street. Their father Jimmy Jr. started Andy’s Music in 1977.

Music product retailers were judged using a numeric rating by a panel of impartial expert judges selected by, but not otherwise affiliated with NAMM. Andy’s Music received this recognition because they:

  • Show a clear understanding that the success of a retail store is directly related to customer satisfaction
  • Provide and support music education for all ages
  • Provide a retail experience worth returning for and recommending to others
  • Design a floor plan, merchandising and marketing that encourages repeat sales
  • Prepare for future success with sound planning, marketing and training initiatives
  • Use the web and social media in engaging, effective ways

“These awards are a chance for NAMM retail members to be recognized and rewarded for proactive, innovative business efforts and effective marketing campaigns by their peers,” said Lamond.

Andy’s Music has also been selected as the best music store in the Mobile Register’s 10th Annual Readers Choice Awards. This award has been presented each year since 2002, and Andy’s Music has won first place ten consecutive years.

Andy’s Music Inc., is a full-line musical instrument retailer located in Mobile, Alabama. Established in 1977, the business is the only complete music retailer in the area, serving musicians, churches, schools, and music educators.

Yamaha P-105 88-Key Weighted Action Digital Piano

The new Yamaha P-105, a new portable digital piano featuring Yamaha piano touch and tone, was introduced at Summer NAMM 2012. The P-105 is for anyone looking for an affordable and great sounding 88-key weighted action keyboard.

The Yamaha P-105 has an 88-note, Graded Hammer Standard (GHS) weighted action keyboard that feels heavier in the low end and lighter in the top, just like the keys of an acoustic piano. It also features the PureCF sound engine that recreates the sound of Yamaha’s famous CFIIIS concert grand piano.

The versatile USB TO HOST port and line-level AUX outputs allow a variety of connectivity options with everything from an amplifier to an iPad. Additionally, with the optional Apple Camera Connection Kit, the world of Yamaha Apps like Piano Diary and NoteStar opens up all sorts of possibilities. With its increased 128-note polyphony, the P-105 ensures the suppression of dropped notes even with simultaneous Dual & Split modes and a drum pattern playing. In the EQ department, Intelligent Acoustic Control provides full, balanced sound that adapts to each user’s volume setting for the best possible tone at any level.

The P-105 also allows for side-by-side piano practice for two people using the new Duo mode, a distinctive benefit that makes it ideal for schools teaching group lessons as it accommodates two students per piano, each with their own middle C.

Additional features include ten pianist styles that essentially give the user a built-in duet partner that plays along in one of ten different playing varieties like boogie woogie, stride piano, or ballad Arpeggios. Furthermore, the built-in Rhythms offer ten versatile patterns as an alternative to the traditional metronome and this virtual drummer is always on time.

Yamaha P105 Features:
New PureCF Sound Engine – CFIIIS samples

USB-to-host Port
Line Outputs with iPad Connection
