Yamaha Basses

For more than 20 years, the Yamaha BB Series electric bass guitars have been the workhorse for great bass players like Nathan East, Tony Kanal, Michael Anthony, and Lee Sklar. Through the years, these players have relied on Yamaha’s BB basses to deliver that deep, warm thump that has become the hallmark Yamaha bass sound.  Let’s take a closer look at these great Yamaha basses.

The Yamaha BB614 4-string electric bass guitar features an active 3-band EQ system with a ceramic soap bar-style bridge pickup, and a split coil neck pickup to give you the versatility of sound that is required in professional gigs. Speed knobs for master volume and master tone, a pickup balancer and a toggle selector switch complete the package.

The BB614 also has a beefy alder body with a bolt-on maple neck and rosewood fingerboard. It features the classic characteristics of the original BB series electric basses, from the distinctive big body design and bolt-on neck to the vintage-style hardware and soap bar and split-coil pickups. With the addition of state-of-the-art manufacturing techniques. The BB615 is the 5-string version in the 6 series.

A step down in price – but not in quality – is the BB415 5-string electric bass.  It features a beefy alder body with a bolt-on maple neck and rosewood fingerboard. Electronics include a ceramic soapbar-style bridge pickup, a split coil neck pickup, a toggle selector switch and speed knobs for master volume and master tone. The BB414 is the 4-string version of this model.

The Yamaha BB series basses are not new, the BB1000 and BB2000 professional model basses were introduced in 1977 as the flagship models of this new line.  For more information about Yamaha guitars and basses, visit www.AndysMusicOnline.com.
