The Yamaha SVC110 Silent Cello plays and sounds so similar to a fine acoustic cello, that players will find it surprisingly expressive and comfortable to use. Yamaha designers worked together with some of the world's greatest cellists to create the SVC110, and the talent and inspiration of these artists is reflected in its beautiful warm tone and comfortable playability. Cellists will appreciate being able to practice whenever, and wherever, they want thanks to the "silent" function.
Tone is what makes an instrument special, and the Silent Cello possesses a warm, full-bodied tone with the natural characteristics and nuances found in any acoustic cello. What's unique is its ability to place that sound in the rich acoustic environment of concert halls, without any external processing equipment. A specially designed chip by Yamaha digitally enhances the Silent Cello's sound with reverb. Simply select from the Large Hall, Medium Hall or Room settings to hear yourself in different virtual performance environments.
The Yamaha SVC110 Silent Cellos features a hollow body structure with newly designed pickups for an incredibly natural sound closely resembling that of an acoustic cello. A narrow slit underneath the top board of the body helps preserve and enhance the warm tonal harmonics of the cello with solid, crisp sounds which work well using an amplifier. The new finish highlights the natural beauty of the wood making it look as good as it sounds.
In addition to the Silent Cello's reverb function, the instrument is also equipped with Auxiliary In, Line Out and Headphone Jacks. Connect a compact disc player, mini disc player or cassette deck to the input jack to play along with your favorite recordings. This is an extremely useful feature when practicing. With the output jack connected to a P.A., or external audio system, you can perform live, or use the internal reverb to hear yourself in different virtual performance environments.
