The Yamaha APX500II acoustic electric guitar is the new and improved version of the original APX500. It is updated to include the System 65 piezo pickup and preamp, and some new colors.
As of this writing, the Yamaha APX500 is the most popular acoustic electric guitar in the U.S.! That popularity is due, in part, to at least two factors: 1) Yamaha's reputation for manufacturing excellent quality products, and 2) making these products affordable to almost everyone. The APX500II is the most affordable guitar in the APX series, and features a spruce top with Nato back and sides.
The System 65 Yamaha Preamp is mounted on the side of guitar for optimum access, and quick battery replacement. It's powered by AA batteries that provide a stable power supply, and features a piezo pickup under the saddle. Controls include a 3-band EQ, adjustable mid-range frequency, and an accurate chromatic tuner. If you have a tin ear, there's no more guessing if you're in tune or not.
The APX500II’s thin-line body combines comfort, easy top-fret access and a sound suited to on-stage use - clear mids, balanced highs and controlled lows. Specially designed non-scalloped X-type bracing allows the guitar’s top to maximize the resonance of the body for a full, natural tone. The thin body depth is comfortable to electric guitar players wanting to play acoustic, and guitarist who desire a smaller (than a dreadnought) guitar.
