I bought these as an upgrade from the dd55 set. The dd55's have the ability to adjust individual pad volumes, which is critical to balancing the sound of a kit from place to place. For some insane reason they've dropped this from the dd65, rendering it very unattractive for performance and a huge backward step from the previous model. There are improvements but none that would compensate for this bit of lunacy.

The more i play with this thing the more i like it. Lots of built in sounds and with midi use the selection is limitless. Great for beginners and bangers, but with proper programming and amping a pro could use this in small gigs. Don't get me wrong electronic drums don't replace acoustic drums, they never will, they are an option. Its a lot of fun to play. The down side, difficult to do a snare roll as are most rubber pad electronic sets, the included pedals are weak but i understand they have upgrades although i have yet to see them advertised. overall a fun product that was probably targeted for this entry level players. I wish there was a better version in the $400 range. I would buy it again. Thge survival kit is bogus thou, yeah the adapter and headphones are okay but all the cd's and dvd's asre for keyboards as are the coupons.
