Riki Ram Hand Etched Sitar
Currently the rarest sitar in our collection, this Rikhi Ram is dated at 1947. The reason we know this is that year the shop moved from Lahore, to Delhi, at which time they did not have new badges made up for the Delhi address, so they simply made one. At present there is only one other hand etched badge sitar known to exist.
Of course the badge is of main importance in this photo, but I find the spiral pegs to be quite nice as well, look at how deep the carving is.

The engraving on the pick-gaurd is one of of my favorite examples, the motif is borrowed from religious art.

The color combination along with simple carving on the back of the tumba looks very attractive. A bone necklace is also used on the back of this sitar.
