New Yamaha YDP-184 Digital Piano

Yamaha Arius YDP-184 Digital Piano

Yamaha Arius YDP-184 Digital Piano

The Yamaha Arius YDP-184R digital piano is the new flagship of the YDP Digital Piano Series. The Yamaha CFX piano sample, Virtual Resonance Modeling (VRM) and the GH3 keyboard action set it apart from its closest kin, the YDP-181.

The GH3 Graded Hammer action uses the same hammering system and springless mechanism of a grand piano. As a result, it reproduces the authentic piano touch, from the heavy feel in the lower register to a lighter touch in the upper keys.

It also features a three-sensor setup which facilitates quick note repetition and authentic expressive control while producing a grand piano style experience. Additionally, synthetic ivory key tops provide a tactile surface to the white keys, absorbing moisture from the fingers and preventing them from slipping.

The keyboard action of a digital piano is very important to most piano teachers, more so than price or tone. Although the sound is a close second to touch, with price being a distant third prerequisite. Let me give you an example.

When one of our piano teacher customers comes looking for a digital piano to recommend to a student, the very first thing the teacher does is touch and play the keys. If it feels authentic, they’ll continue the search process and listen to the instrument. If it doesn’t feel right, they move to another instrument without hesitating.
