The Yamaha MGX16V and MGX16 digital mixers share identical audio mixing capabilities, physical fader layouts, and audio I/O configurations. The primary difference is the MGX16V’s inclusion of a dedicated HDMI-USB video interface, which enables simultaneous video capture and pass-through. This addition requires a faster USB connection and adds a slight amount of weight to the mixer.

Here is a chart listing the major differences:
HDMI Integration (MGX16V Only): The MGX16V features an HDMI IN port (for cameras or game consoles) and an HDMI THRU port (for monitors)
. It can capture video up to 4K (60 fps) and send it to a computer via USB, allowing for synchronized audio/video streaming without a separate capture card
. The standard MGX16 handles audio only.
USB Connection Requirement: To handle the high bandwidth of video data, the MGX16V requires a Super Speed (USB 3.0) connection. The standard MGX16 operates on High Speed (USB 2.0) or higher
Weight: Due to the internal video hardware, the MGX16V weighs 10.8 lbs., while the standard MGX16 is lighter at 10.3 lbs.
