The Kala Salted Caramel Exotic Burl tenor ukulele features all Burled Cypress construction - top, back, and sides.
Burled wood is very unique and attractive with gnarled lumps and bumps that form on tree trunks or by the roots under the bark. This creates beautiful, pearlescent, fluid shapes in the wood pattern.
The Kala exotic wood uke is called Salted Caramel because it boasts a wide range of caramel colors, from dark to light, swirling through the wood grain. Consequently, the ukulele you receive will be different than the one shown.
Ukuleles commonly come in four sizes: soprano, concert, tenor, and baritone. The soprano often called "standard" in Hawaii, is the smallest, and the original size ukulele. The concert size was developed in the 1920s as an enhanced soprano, slightly larger and louder with a deeper tone.
Shortly thereafter, the tenor ukulele was created, having more volume and a deeper bass tone. The largest size is the baritone, created in the 1940s.
