The first Yamaha mixer introduced into the U.S. market was the PM1000, back in the 1970's. It was a professional mixer used by many pro sound companies, and it set the stage for other Yamaha mixers. The latest of which is the new MG16.
The Yamaha MG16 mixing console has 16-channels, and delivers sonic purity and sound quality unmatched in its class. It features studio-quality preamps, powerful digital processing, and a rugged, metal chassis. It incorporates some of the same technologies developed for use in Yamaha's high-end professional consoles.
Class-A Mic Preamps
D-Pre preamps in the MG16 are studio grade, and deliver natural sounding bass and smooth highs, with very low distortion. They have a wide frequency range that can handle signal from almost any signal source without amplifying unwanted noise.
Everything you do as a sound engineer is dependent on the quality of your preamps, and ultimately how good your mix is going to sound.
Op-Amp Integrated Circuits
The MG16 mixer has custom made MG01 op-amps that were developed in cooperation with the manufacturer to focus on signal quality as the most important component.
Switchable Phantom Power
With phantom power, MG Series consoles allow you to take full advantage of the greater frequency response and high sound quality of condenser microphones. The PAD Switch attenuates high input signals and helps to avoid clipping that can seriously affect your mix.
One Knob Compression
One knob compressors are a Yamaha innovation, and now have become an industry standard. It gives you instant access to optimize compression with a single rotary knob.
EQ and High Pass Filters
The MG16 audio mixer benefits from Yamaha's extensive experience in designing pro audio gear, and features 3-band equalizers on all mono channels for precise control of your sound. High-pass filters allow you to eliminate unwanted low-frequency noise, for a smoother, cleaner audio mix.
Other important features of the MG16 console include: 4 AUX effect sends to add external digital processors; a variety of input/output connectors including Neutrik XLR jacks; and it's all wrapped up in a metal chassis with an internal power supply to give you worry free operation. Rack ears are included.
The Yamaha MG mixers can be used for church installs, recording, or live music settings. The solid construction and flexible design continually deliver peak performance, sonic purity and reliability unrivaled in its class. And most importantly, they are built to last.
