The Ibanez AW54JR is the junior version of the Artwood AW54 dreadnought, featuring an all Mahogany body with a sold top. The scale length is 23.7/8", and some people call this a 3/4 size guitar, travel guitar, or just plain Junior.
The sound of the guitar is what you would expect from a small guitar, but it's still impressive. The laws of physics prevent it from sounding like a dreadnought guitar, so we can't expect it too! That being said, the tone is very warm and full, with clear mids and highs, and it blends well with other guitars in a group. The small body size also makes it very comfortable to play whether you're sitting or standing.
The all Mahogany body of the AW54JR complements many types of music but is well suited for acoustic blues and rhythm playing, and its mellow tone blends well in the audio mix. The comfort forearm contour is just that, a comfortable place to rest your arm while playing. A simple and functional idea that works.
The Open Pore finish allows the guitar to resonate more freely than a guitar finished in a traditional way with urethane or lacquer, and the low gloss satin finish has the added benefit of not showing smudges or fingerprints.
The AW54JR is part of the Ibanez Artwood Series featuring solid tops and select woods, and this is reflected in its price. Whether you want to use it as a travel guitar, or as an upper-level instrument for a child, it's a fun guitar to play and is sure to please almost anyone. Call Andy's and get yours on the way.
