The Yamaha YCL-221II bass clarinet is designed for young clarinetists moving up from B-flat soprano clarinet. Its two-piece body and compact case make it easy to carry on the school bus, store in the band room, and bring to rehearsal.
Why Band Directors and Parents Choose the YCL-221II Student Bass Clarinet
Lightweight Matte ABS Resin Body
The matte finish gives this bass clarinet a clean, professional look. The ABS resin body is lighter and more durable than many student alternatives, and it produces a warm tone with reliable response across the range.
Redesigned Neck Angle for Comfortable Playing Position
The neck angle matches Yamaha's professional bass clarinet models. Students can hold the instrument in a more natural position, which supports good posture and technique as they develop.
Leather Pads with Plastic Resonators
These pads are also used on Yamaha saxophones. They last longer than standard clarinet pads, offer a better feel under the fingers, and add projection.
Redesigned Register Tone Hole for Accurate Intonation
The register tone hole was designed and positioned to support precise intonation, helping students stay in tune in ensemble settings.
Rounded Bridge Key Connector
The rounded connector protects the keys from damage and removes the need to press keys while assembling the instrument.
New Joint System
Rubber rings around the cork help prevent air leaks, make assembly easier, and keep keys from binding.
Compact, Stackable ABS Case
The case is lighter and smaller than a traditional bass clarinet case, which makes it easier for children to carry and more practical for bus rides. Cases stack neatly, saving space in school band rooms.
